I still play the game often, usually offline with tweaker to test things. But in general it's a good tool that I've been able to help figure out real life car issues with pretty well for that. I hope there is more someday! Eventually!

This has been happening for over a year now with all of the new updates the problem comes back.

I reinstall it fresh and it works fine. Go to download the new updates automatically and during the download my screen goes black. Restart LFS and then it's black forever. Sometimes the error says something about path update, sometimes it says could not set up FF steer device. I am retrieving the messages by pressing T, then up arrow and then ctrl + C.

I think it also might be doing it after I unlock S2. I really am not sure. Sometimes the game works fine for for weeks at 60fps. other itmes it is permanently black! I have tried turning off anti-aliasing through CFG. I have tried turning off V-sync. I have tried deleting CFg and letting it restart itself. Nothing works.

Please help!

EDIT:

After screwing with it over and over I found something that sets it off. If I delete card_cfg and cfg then restart LFS it (obivously) makes me reset my driver settings etc but it will work until the screen is swapped from windowed to fullscreen. OR even if I just accidentally hit maximize/minimize while its windowed. Then I have to delete CFG and card_cfg again just to get the screen viewable again

Westhill looks amazing! and my game runs at DOUBLE its old framerate. I don't know what changed but on my not that great laptop i am seeing over 110fps where i used to see 30 or even 20 in some places.

I hoped for more cars and tracks too, but LFS is still a very good
game. It may not be as entertaining to us, because we are used to it.
but it's still a great game! It has not gotten worse with time, it's

It helped my real life driving and that's invaluable to me! I hate that I can't get the graphics decent, but I've been itching to buy a g27 and get back out there in the XRR and learn how to drive a race car again!

Thanks Scawen, I already knew about this though... I was thinking like 256x256 everything or smaller... thanks everyone, IT does run decent but I can't win races because it lags me to death when im about to pass most of the time.

the dx7 isnt true, i have dx9 now and it's fine. thanks for the info guys, unfortunately a new computer isnt an option.

Hey, I have been playing, and I have personally optomized all of my game settings to get the meximum FPS, but it really isnt that good. I get a max of ~ 50, and it gets as low as 6 with only a few other cars. I looked at my texture size, and it says im using 48megabytes on textures. But I dont see how this is posible. Could I half size/ 1/4 sizw all of my dds files to get better frame rates?
any suggestions? and buying something isn't really an option.

One more for horrible: NFSUG2 cars are too responsive, not even comparable to real life. there are no police. and the under-glow is too bright.

I'll be completely honest here:
The only reason I bought S2 was because the XRT was removed from the demo, and I wanted it back. So i payed up and it was well worth it to get ALL of the cars and tracks.More content in the demo would just make people not buy the game because they already had a good demo.

i dont think the mk3 sounds right. I own one I have to say mine sounds alot rougher and higher pitched. when I rev it it sounds really growly, not so muffled. I hope you will take this into consideration.
